Green Hack: food

Offer your unwanted foodstuffs to friends or neighbours

Why should I offer my unwanted foodstuffs to friends or neighbours?

Have you got fruit and vegetables going off that you're not going to use in time? Bought a box of cereal to realise you don't really like it? Instead of throwing unwanted foodstuffs away you could consider offering them to friends or neighbours. This reduces food waste and could make someone else's day, inspiring them to use the foods in a certain recipe or try something new!

You could set up a group chat in your neighbourhood to advertise foods you don't want, fostering community spirit and showing others you want to prioritise the planet.

Even if you might feel hesitant to ask initially, taking the step to engage with friends and family on such an important topic may be the first step to creating a much more nature-friendly community!

Tag us in stories of your community and the planet with the hashtag #GreenHacks for the chance to be featured on our social media!
