Repair electrical appliances instead of buying new

What's the benefit of repairing appliances instead of buying new ones?

Repairing your appliances instead of buying new reduces the amount of waste you create, much of which may go to landfill. It also prevents unnecessary consumption of new goods - plus, it's better for your pocket!

By employing people to repair your appliances, you promote a cyclical economy and culture of valuing goods. The throwaway culture many societies live in currently creates extraordinary amounts of waste each year, so shifting away from this even in small ways is a great positive for the planet.

If possible, try to employ local or independent businesses to repair your goods - this also keeps money within the local economy and benefits people in your community, instead of this money going to the larger corporations which sell new appliances.
