Green Hack: food

Try an alternative milk to dairy this week

#PledgeForOurFuture

Why should I try alternative milk?

For some people, switching from dairy to alternative milks can drastically reduce their carbon footprint and environmental impact when it comes to food.

Poore & Nemecek (2018) found the production of dairy milk created over three times more GHG emissions than any plant-based alternative 1. Similar trends are seen with land and water use, illustrated in the graph below:

Although for many people across the world, alternative milk is inaccessible or inappropriate, if you are able to switch even partially to alternative milk it can be a big step for the planet. Many alternative milks can also be made at home at low cost to avoid packaging!
